Funded in 2023 with the support of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), the network “Classical German Anthropologies” seeks to explore the epoch of the so-called Rise of Anthropology in Germany, investigating from various angles the emerging approaches to the question of the human being (its cognitive capacities, its natural and bodily constitution, its social dimension) that emerged in XIXth century Germany.
